Alright so I'm a bit behind. This poll ended over 2 weeks ago.
Which one's the lie???
57% we gave Kaelyn the middle name of Vegas because she was conceived there.
14% I can beat Chad at basketball.
14% Chad gave me a gold dollar the first time we met as a down payment to shave my head
14% we had a pet frog names Biggie
Well we DID have a pet frog named Biggie. Don't ask me why, but for some reason I liked getting people pets for presents and so while we were dating I bought Chad a frog for his birthday and we raised Biggie as our pet frog the first part of our marriage.
Chad DID give me a gold dollar as a down payment to shave my head. I've always thought it would be sweet to wear wigs. You could have any hair style, any color, and length, thick, luscious, hair. Maybe this is just because I have thin hair so it would be sooo fun to have thick long hair. Even if it means wearing a wig. So the first time Chad and I met I told him that I've thought of shaving my head (because his head was shaved) and he gave me a gold dollar to put towards the cost of doing. I since used that gold dollar and now is a bit of a sore subject when it comes up around Chad.
I CAN and DID beat Chad in basketball. Let me just tell you..... I am on fire on the basketball court. I can take you to school and your mom too!!! hehe Really though... bring it. Chad tried and look what happened to him. You can still see the letters S-P-A-L-D-I-N-G across his forehead if you look close enough. Like a guy he'll never admit to it, but I promise he got his trash kicked!
and you all guessed it....
We did not give Kaelyn the middle name of Vegas because she was conceived there. We just really liked the name.
So there you have it. I'll have to try and think of another poll, but it might have to wait til after the holidays because my brain is on vacation until then.

Remember when....
.... you always had well manicured toes because you had the time to paint them as soon as they started chipping?
.... you could actually paint your finger nails because you had time to let them dry instead of being asked to put on barbies new outfit?
.... you could go out with your husband and you didn't feel rushed because you have a babysitter waiting at home?
.... you could listen to any song you wanted to in the car because you didn't have kids in the car that could hear the inappropriate language (I know what your thinking mom).
....you could clean the house and it stays that way for days, maybe even weeks?
.... you could take a shower or bath without an audience?
.... you were on time to things?
.... you didn't have slobber all over your shirt?
.... you could take a shower whenever you wanted?
.... you could sleep in past the morning and wake up around noon?
.... you opened your car door and toys didn't fall out?
.... you could eat a piece of chocolate without having to hide it from the kids?
.... you could go shopping and actually look through all the sales racks?
.... you didn't have to be home by 1pm and again at 7pm for nap time?
.... you could take hours getting ready if you wanted to?
.... you could run all your errands within a couple of hours?
.... you could lay out at the pool and take a nap?
.... you could catch a late movie at the theaters?
.... you could live lavishly on two incomes and not have to spend money on diapers, formula, shoes, clothes, etc?
.... you could lay in bed all day if you wanted to?
.... you could sleep through the whole night without any interruptions?
but most importantly do you remember when....
.... you didn't have these little children that bring sooooo much joy to your life and instead you had to work full time at a job that was no where close to being as rewarding as being a mother?
I'm sooooo grateful to be a mom and for my wonderful children. Even if it means sacrificing all those things I once enjoyed so much.

I have OCD.....
That's right errrrrbody OCD. I never thought that it was that bad and I still don't (until I just read this over), but I have noticed how over time it can/has progressively gotten worse.
Sooooo at night I have to shut down the house. Sometimes because Chad has already passed out on the couch or in bed, but mostly because I have to go through behind him and make sure it's all done right anyways.....
First, I have to check the garage
-make sure the garage door is down
-make sure the washer and dryer are off
-then I have to turn off the kitchen light and the garage light to make sure that all the car lights are off (Cache likes to turn them all on).
-then I lock the door
-then I have to push on the door to make sure it latched all the way.
From there I go through the kitchen
- I usually have to have the house totally clean before I can go to bed so I have to make sure that the sink is clean of any dishes
- and then turn off the lights
I then go into the Living room
-I check the front door. Usually opening it and making sure the security door is locked.
- then I check to make sure nothing was left on the doorstep
- shut the door
-lock it and give it that extra push just to make sure it latched all the way
- then I check the sliding door. I have to check the top lock and make sure it is tight
- check that the bottom sticks are in place
- check and make sure the sliding door lock is locked (even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't work anyway.
- some nights I also have to go out and feed Tuff
- Then I straighten the living room pillows
- and turn off the light and fan
From there I have to check on the kids
- check to make sure they're blankets are on them
- smile and think of how blessed I am to have these sweet little kids
- close the door and then FINALLY I can get ready for bed.
If I question whether or not I checked one of the locks I have to go through and double check all of them.
So there it is. I'm officially CrAAAAAzyyyy! I think it's progressively gotten worse over the years. It's like if I think of something new I have to add that to my nightly routine. It's terrible at times because I dread getting ready for bed. Partly for that reason and because I have to go wash my face and brush my teeth. Sometimes I wish I could just plop into bed, but my nightly OCD routine gives me peace of mind at the end of the day instead of sitting in bed thinking over and over in my head "is the garage door down or am I gonna wake up to stolen cars and my children gone?" I think I'll take the peace of mind.

"Pun,ctu'ati.on?
Okay okay so Im sure you all have noticed it. I am terrible at punctuation. For that reason Im choosing not to use any of it except for a period in this post so that I dont make it that much more noticeable as you read this. So next time you read a post email letter text from me keep that in mind and try not to let it bother you. I put punctuation in wherever I think it looks good. Lets keep it at that.
BTW Im not the best speller either so if you cant read what I wrote just guess.

Ouch....
...as Emily would put it.
Last night I was talking to Chad about how I've tried making friends with people and they just dont seem interested.
His response........
"Well you've got three kids........... and you're OLD."
Well there you have it. I'm officially old. So old that people dont want to be my friend. No one wants to hang out with grandma over here when they can hang out with kids there own age.
(By the way.... this is not a post saying that I dont think I have friends. I have the best friends a girl, or grandma, could ask for.)

I have a real problem..
First off I'm blogging when I should be getting my kids ready for their doc appointment, but that is a different problem for a different post.
I have (and have had for a long time) a problem of finding a shirt that I like and then buying EVERY color in it. Okay, maybe not EVERY color, but I can't buy just one. for example I just bought 5 shirts (a splurge I know, but it was a deal). Three of them where the same style in different colors while the other two were the same style in two different colors. Maybe it's because I don't get to go shopping like I use to. So instead of shopping regularly for myself and settling on one color in each style I shop less frequently and only find one style that I really like with a million colors I can't choose from. Some of you may have noticed this before. You may have thought to yourself "Didn't Janae just wear that shirt?? Only in blue?" Well you would be correct. You're not going delusional.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Costume results....
The results are in and...
55% of people voted that they dress up for Halloween and
44% say they dont
I'm not someone who dresses up. Well let me take that back because I did wear Chad's Raiders Jersey, but that's about where it ends. I dont care to dress up as an animal, clown, witch, ect.... I feel uncomfortable the entire time I wear it. Oddly enough I wouldn't mind wearing a wig. In fact for years I wanted to shave my head and just wear wigs everyday. I mean serioulsy I could have gorgeous, thick, long hair and it could be any color I wanted it without damaging my own hair. Plus maybe by shaving my head my hair would grow in nice and thick. So wigs dont bother me, but getting all dressed up in a costume does.
Who of you likes dressing up? Did you dress up this Halloween and if so what did you dress up as? What about dressing up do you like?

My thoughts on being the Activities Chairman..
Chad and I have been our ward's Activities Chairman for the past year. I have to say that this is the perfect calling for me. I LOVE parties, I LOVE planning parties, and I LOVE being incharge. However, I know that I have issues. I like things done MY way. Knowing this about myself I had to try and put my thoughts aside and make group decisions. It's no fun being in Activities Committee if you're just being told what to do and you aren't able to help plan them. So when the decorations aren't perfect I just turn my head. No really it wasn't that bad. However, I know that not everyone cares for decorations like I do so they may not make such a big deal about making it perfect. I do have to say that I think I had some WONDERFUL people in my committee. I couldn't have done it without them. Luckily, they were able to put up with me because I can be VERY demanding.
Anyways, being the chairman was exciting, exhausting, stressful, rewarding, and soooo much more. I am a stressful person. It works for me though because when the activiy is over with it makes it that much more rewarding. I often lose a lot of sleep the nights before an activity because I'm thinking about every little detail. I want the activities to be ones that people look forward to coming to. So it always feels great when I've put in a lot of effort and the activity was a success.
Sooooooo our calling is now over. It's so weird to think that I don't have to start planning a Ward Thanksgiving party and that the next activity I go to I'll actually be able to enjoy the activity.
I have to say the hardest thing about being in charge is seeing how it effects my kids. For example our activity on Saturday went a little like this....
Chad was on parking lot duty so the kids just followed me around as I found our game people and got them set-up. Luckily, my wonderful friend Camille offered to take Aeden so that he could get some food. (Shay didn't want any.) Then she continued following me around until Chad got a break and could take them to play some games. All the other kids were already playing games. Then Chad went to go hang out at our car for the trunk or treat while the kids stood with me at the prize station. Until another wonderful friend took over my spot so I could take the kids trunk or treating. By this time some of the cars were already leaving. Then we cleaned up while Kaelyn screamed and the kids finally got in bed around 10pm.
All in all it was a great gig, but it will be nice to enjoy some future activites with my kids!

Early Morning vs. Afternoon
Well we got kicked out of the Campbell Ward! Our stake just re-did the ward boundaries and we are now in a new ward. My feelings are mixed on this whole ordeal. I'm excited to meet some friends that live within a reasonable driving distance, but I miss the comfort of our Campbell Ward. We have been there for the last 3 1/2 years I believe which has made this our home ward since it's the longest Chad and I have been in a ward together. I like knowing most the people in the ward and knowing where everything is so going to a new ward took me out of that comfort zone. However, there are a lot of kids in this new ward and even some new girl classmates for Shaylee. Sadly, most of Shay's friends moved away within the last year. So overall I'm excited for the new change and will have to make even more of an effort to keep those friendships I've made in the Campbell Ward.
The other thing I love about this ward is they meet at 1pm. However, that's only for the next two months. I personally like the afternoon meetings because Sunday is often the ONLY day I can be lazy in the mornings. Roll my butt outta bed after 7:30 and not jump right in the shower. I also love that I can get dinner ready before so that we can eat a nice Sunday meal when we get home. Before when we had 9am church (which meant we had to be out the door by 8:30) there was never time to get everyone ready and get stuff in the oven for lunch so often times we would come home starving and eat whatever we could get our hands on then we were never hungry for dinner. I enjoy having a nice dinner on Sundays. Soooo for those reasons I enjoy the afternoon meetings.
What about you? Do you prefer early morning/ or afternoon church?
BTW- For those that might argue that early morning church is better for kids I have to disagree. NO time is better for kids. Either it's early morning and I can't get them to sit still because they haven't had a chance to get out some built up energy or it's nap time.

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
I just waited a half hour for a show to load on my ever so slow computer and finally gave up when nothing happened. This is sooooo annoying! I have too many shows that I never get to watch. I'm sure you're thinking "why don't you just get DVR/TiVo?" Well I'll tell you why I'm having a hard time breaking down and getting it....
*Getting DVR means that we'd have to get REAL cable not this basic stuff which means we'd have ESPN (and anyone who has a husband who loves to watch, read, listen to sports knows what that would mean).
* We pay $10 a month for our basic cable which is all I want. I watch enough tv on those channels.
*It costs $60 a month to get DVR because we would have to get digital cable and I'm told that's their cheapest plan.
...We pay $120 a YEAR. With DVR we'd pay that much in 2 MONTHS. So due to those cons (yes, I making a pro's and con's list Michael) I don't think it's worth it. So my next option is to watch them online. This wouldn't be a problem if I had a normal speed for my computer, but it takes me 2 hours to watch an hour long show because the words get to fast for the picture or the other way around. My only excuse for not getting a faster internet connection is I'm cheap.
So I guess I am going to take it because I'm not willing to pay more money. What I would give to just have an old VCR. It would solve ALL my problems. Well except the one where I have two shows on at the same time and I'm not home to watch one while the other would be recording!!!!!!
Grrrrrr!!!
I would maybe give up my shows if I didn't already sacrifice most the other things I enjoy doing. It's the one thing I have to look forward to at the end of a loooong day.

I don't know why I've always been curious as to what other moms do during nap time. In a way I figured that we all did the same thing. I am NOT a napper. That doesn't mean I don't get tired and wouldn't LOVE to take a nap, but I'm always more tired after a nap then I am before so I figure what's the point. Plus, if I nap I have hard time going to sleep at night. I don't read, other than the occasional magazine. I'm not much of a tv watcher during the day unless it's 3:00 and then I might turn on Ellen. Life might be different if I had TiVo or DVR. Maybe it's a good thing that I don't. So during nap time I typically read peoples blogs and/or clean.
What's this other business? What do you do if your not napping, cleaning, blogging, reading, or watching tv?
Do you feel tired after a nap or is this a personal problem???

19.2 pound bundle of pain in the you know what
Did you all hear about this 19.2 lb baby that was born? Holy Hannah that is a big baby. They're gonna be able to turn around his carseat on the way home from the hospital. YIKES! All I have to say is I hope that mom got an epidural. My little 6.1lb bundle of joy was painful enough.

Let me serve you....
First, I want you all to know that I'm not picking on any one in specific. I've offered to serve people before and you may have been one of those people, but not the only one so don't feel like this post is targeted directly at you. However, I hope it will result in you letting me help you.....
I think my sister Melanie said it VERY well in one of her posts... "I (Melanie) think it is great that babies are so dependent and that service is a necessity. Love is born through service and I can't think of a better way to develop Christ-like love for your children."
I've thought alot about service lately and after the talks yesterday I've decided it was time to do a little more. I remember being young and watching my mom serve an elderly lady that lived at the end of our block. We also have an adopted g-ma and g-pa who my mom helped take care. Even to the point that when my g-ma died and years later my parents moved to Utah they moved my g-pa there as well. So they could continue to watch over him. Remember this was not my mom's dad nor my dad's dad, but she would help him move into different homes and visited him often. She (and my dad) took care of him as if he were there own father. I'm soooo appreciative of my parents for serving this couple. One because they were WONDERFUL grandparents. We grew to love them sooooo very much. But, most importantly I'm appreciative of my mom and dad for being excellent examples of service. They served these people out of love. No one asked them to do it. They wanted to and because of their service these friendships were strengthened. It didn't just stop at their friendship though because as a result our (my brother and sisters) relationship grew towards this couple as well.
I've been thinking lately that I need to be better at serving others. Typically when I think of service I think of pulling an elderly couples weeds on a Saturday morning. However, it doesn't always have to be that elderly couple. It can be my friends. It can be cooking a meal for that friend that just had a baby or watching a friends kids for them so they could run errands, catch up on things around the house, go to an appointment, or simply giving them a much needed break. It could simply be giving that friend company who just needs to sit and talk. However, I've come to realize that often it is much easier to serve others than to allow others to serve you. After all, you don't want to feel like you can't do it on your own. I should be able to care for my newborn baby while giving each of my other kids the attention they need while keeping a tidy house, clean laundry, dinner on the table when dad walks in the door, etc. The truth is we can't do it all. That's why Heavenly Father wants us to serve others. More importantly he doesn't expect us to do it all. He knew we would need help. So it's time to let go of some of that pride and ALLOW others to help. Allow others to cook you a meal when they offer. Allow them to watch your kids. Allow them to give you that break.
So my dear friends... allow me to serve you. I promise it will only help strengthen our friendship. Most of my best friendships are a result of service (if not all of them). Let me be a better friend to you.
What was she thinking?
Today was a preschool day for Shay. Like any other school day we hurried and got ready in the morning. I told the kids to get in the car and I buckled them in. Usually to the point that they were telling me "It's too tight!" in which I reply "It has to be tight. I don't want to lose you." We then travel across town to Shay's preschool. As I was waiting for Shay to get out of the car a black convertible sports car rolls up. I assume it was one of the kids grandparents car. He was in the back seat STANDING UP with his mom sitting next to him as they pull up the the house. WHAT was this mom thinking?!?! It's bad enough that he wasn't in a car seat, but she was letting him stand up in a convertible. One little accident and that kid would be road kill. RIDICULOUS. This has to be one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I know that back in our parents parenting days they didn't even use car seats, but it still drives me crazy to see parents holding there little baby in the front seat as they drive off. I wont even drive down the block without my kids buckled up. Maybe it's because my husband works for GEICO, but really. These are your kids.
Does this drive you all crazy or is it just me? It takes a lot not to give these parents a piece of my mind. I just hope they don't learn the lesson the hard way. Sheesh!!!

40+ dollars
Soooo today I went and bought diapers for K. Nothing I haven't done before, but this time I paid a little more attention to the price than I usually do. We have been buying the Kirkland 1-2 diapers, but she's put on some weight so I went for the Huggies 2 this time. It cost me $12 more making them $40 some odd dollars. This make them almost $0.17 a pop. That means that everytime I change K's diaper is costs .17cents. Unfortunelty, for me she likes to make sure she does her buisness in a nice clean diaper. In fact when I thought about it I probably only pay about $1 a day for diapers for her. *Keep in mind she's not the only one wearing diapers around here.* In my mind it's worth it to pay $1 a day to be able to throw away a dirty diaper rather than washing out used cloth diapers. Which of course means doing laundry and we all know how I feel about the laundry. However, when I'm buying those diapers at $40 a box it kills me. One of our recent costco trip included buying diapers for A... ka-ching, buying diapers for K... ka-ching ka-ching, buying wipes... ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching, and buying formula... ka-ching ka-ching ka...... you get the point. We spent well over $100 on just that stuff. Forget all the food, tp, cleaning supplies, etc. we had to buy.
My point is that although that $1 a day is worth it.... kids are a GRIP.

Foosball
For my first post I feel that is it fitting to talk about Foosball (aka Football) since it started this week.
I use to think that it would be fun having a husband that enjoys watching sports. In my mind I envisioned my husband getting together with all his guys friends and they would watch football/basketball/baseball etc. on tv together while all the wives got some girl time chatting it up in the other room.
Well I quickly found out that what it meant was my husband watching the game and wanting me to watch it with him. Hmmmm not what I had in mind. I can enjoy a game when I'm actually at the game and really that's because I'm not paying any attention to the game. I'm there for the atmosphere and food. Watching football or basketball on tv doesn't do it for me.
So instead I look at football season as the time of year that I feel a little like a single parent. Chad's attention is on the tv and I'm not quite sure if he notices the crying baby on the floor next to him. He feels this is an exaggeration. I think I might to need to point out the crying baby a little more.
Soooo I wanna know..... how many of you wives thought that a husband that watches sports would be a fun thing? Do you enjoy watching sports with your husband? Is it really what you had envisioned?
